RAINBOW ROSES!!!???

At first I thought they were fake silk flowers, but apparently they're the latest craze since this guy in Amsterdam came up with this special dye-ing technique.

I think it's love....

I said YES!!

And I have a pretty sparkly diamond ring to show for it... Yay!!!
As if Christmas Eve wasn't already my favourite day of the year
*happy sigh*

A Stupid Fly....

One word to describe me right now?
.PATHETIC.
So there's this fly crawling along my desk and he's not well. I kinda bat at him gently with my fingers and he mostly just hops around. Yeh, he's dying slowly. His existence as a pesky flying little beast is officially over. So I pick him up, thinking "Well, he's going to die anyway, I may as well just throw him in the fish tank and let the fish have a treat"
I dip my finger in the water and am about to shake the little guy off me when I feel totally guilty about the fact that I've put him seconds away from a violent demise (getting eaten by 3 tetras is never pretty, I've watched it happen to 2 goldfish. Blech)
So after a few seconds of trying to will him to crawl into the water himself, I decide he's not ready to die and put him up on the bench above my desk so he can have a nice view of the world.

Just now Kat came in and killed him with a sermon CD. My poor fly.

Speaking of Christmas...

...Apparently I'm getting an expensive gift from the boy. Pressure? Oh no, not at all ;)
(I'm still psyched about what I got for him! All will be revealed....)

The Way You Sing It....

I'm having a problem with Christmas Music. Yes, me, the girl who pulls out her trusty Wow Christmas CD in early November, who blasts cheesy bells and saxophones from her car stereo a month before the rest of the world even remembers that Christmas is nearly around the corner. I swear, no music gives me a better feeling than the music that brings me back to the days when the latest Littlest Pet Shop Accessory was the best thing EVER to find under the tree.

I guess that kinda brings me to my point. What's with pop artists who:

a) Take a Christmas song that we know and love and beat it about with a stick SO MUCH that it barely resembles the old carol that we know and love? Where's the fun in getting to the 2nd verse and saying "Oh hey, I recognise these words... huh, apparently I'm listening to Jingle Bells"
b) Release a 'Christmas CD' filled with a bunch of songs that no one knows or really cares about? Sorry, but Hilary Duff bleating "Last Christmas I gave you my heart, and the very next day you gave it away" doesn't make me feel all that festive...

Christmas songs, and the associated music are, in a word, uncool. Seriously, if it weren't for the season, no one would listen to music that sounds like that. (I might, but that's beside the point) The appeal of Christmas music is that it takes us back to when we were kids, and Christmas was a magical time of year. You hear "Silent Night" and you feel all warm inside. None of this new pop rubbish. That doesn't do anything for anyone. No, I haven't asked the general public. I just know.
I'm all for artists branching out and recording classics like "O Holy Night" and "Jingle Bell Rock". But stick with those. Nobody cares about N'Sync's "Home For Christmas" or Hilary Duff's "Santa Claus Lane" (except for the teeny bopper die-hard fans who think that these songs have changed their lives for the better)

So anyway. Rant over.

It's His Birthday....

.... so I thought I'd surprise him this morning!!

I promised to call him at 6am and wake him up for work, as per our arrangement. At 5.45, I sneakily headed over to his place, hid around the corner and called him. Our conversation went as follows...

K: Hey... Good morning...
C: Oh hey.... *tired noises*
K: And happy birthday! Did you get my present last night?
C: Huh? What present?
K: (sounding disappointed) After you went out last night I drove over to your place and left your present by the door.
C: You did? I didn't see anything...
K: I can't believe you missed it :(
C: Awww I'm sorry, I'll go get it.... hang on...
K: Get it now!
C: I'm going! I'm going! I'm walking down the stairs... unlocking the door... Where did you say you put it?
K: You can't see it?
C: nope, where is it?
K: Here!
(at this point I stepped out of my hiding place and Chris nearly fell over at the shock of seeing a person appear)

Fun morning :D We went upstairs, he unwrapped his presents with me, read his card... we hung out, and then he had to get ready for work. I waited around for him, and after a few minutes he emerged in his new shirt (a birthday present!!), nice pants, nice shoes... we walked outside together, I kissed him goodbye and told him to have a nice day at work... and as I watched him leave, I was hit very hard in the tummy by the weirdest feeling. It only took me a second to work out what it was...

We felt married. Just for that second.
So now I'm feeling all super lovey-dovey ;)

Day at the Races... I Mean Office

"Don't tell me the Baptist Church is supporting a horse race!" - anonymous disgusted elderly woman
No, folks, Mounties Baptist would never support the ferocious sin of gambling, but that doesn't mean we don't love an excuse to dress up!! Melbourne Cup Day gave us that brilliant excuse! While most of us (especially me) had no idea of the names of any horses in the big race, let alone which one would be the best to put money on, a select few of us were very passionate about coming to work in something we normally wouldn't dare... hence the pouting receptionist in the extravagant white hat (AKA me!)

Around the Corner... Of Love

<<< Bows & Butterflies!!!!

Well, Summer is but a month away and I can't quite believe how giddy I'm feeling about it!!

To me, this Summer means:

- Salty Weekend
- Slingshot camp (my last Uth Camp, at least for the time being...)
- BBQs
- Weekend evenings by the river
- Housesitting with my lady friends and a dog that shares the same name as my sister's boyfriend
- CHRISTMAS!!! (which means....)
- Christmas music (yep, the heart is pounding now. I'm a sucker for the excessive use of joy and bells in music)
- The Christmas week off work!!
Not to mention....
- My 22nd Birthday
- Lots of days off before taking on full time hours next year
- Sunshine & therefore... sun tan *drools*
- Balmy nights outside with my man
- Beaching it, often
